Omaha: A love hate relationshp
Well it is happening again, Oregon State and North Carolina at the Men’s College World Series Finals. It is called that now it is no longer the Championship Series, last summer the committee decided that Championship Series did not sound as good as Finals or something like that.
Well quick round about update on what I have been doing the past few days. I have been back and forth to Rosenblatt Stadium in order to go to OSU games and games of other teams. How often do you see a 270 pound cheerleader who can also mash a baseball when he pinch-hits? John Kruk anyone?
Omaha is absolutely terrific. I hated it for the first few days because it is just so darn hot and humid. The other day I made my way up the street from our hotel to this mall to get a couple of things, it is a pretty neat mall. That arcade Tilt that they have in Lloyd Center in Portland, well they have one of those here, except it has a mini-golf course and is an entire floor. I tried out one of those massage chairs that you pay a dollar for and get a three minute massage. I guess you could maybe call it a massage; it is more so a three minute beating in the middle of a mall it is a painful experience.
Pete and I took in the Henry Dorley Zoo of Omaha the other day and all I can say is that is why I like Omaha now. We spent five hours in the zoo, and that length of time allowed us to finally see everything but a few spider monkeys. They have a dome that has three levels, one a desert, two a nocturnal area and three a bayou. Bayou full of boardwalks, water, rowboats, alligators, beavers and dark (yes the beavers and alligators are separate). Then they have the basic things, but also an aquarium and a jungle (yes a jungle).
Seeing as OSU was victorious we get two days off and have enjoyed our first one by checking out Creighton University and watching a baseball game.
This is just an amazing experience, if it wasn’t I would be pretty peeved that I am missing my favorite band’s first ever show in Portland (which I had tickets to). I do miss my friends from school that I was hoping to spend some time with once I got home from school but, come on I am at the COLLEGE WORLD SERIES and am a baseball freak.
